With Joy and Gratitude we celebrated our 11th Faith Formation graduation on Saturday, June 17th, 2023.
At the altar on that glorious day, we had: Bishop Emeritus John Pazak, C.Ss.R, Fr. Ivan Nahachewsky, Vicar General, Fr. Andre Lalach, Pastor of Dormition of the Mother of God Parish, Fr. Raymond Lukie, C.Ss.R, Pastor of Ss. Peter and Paul, and Fr. Gregory Hrynkiw, Hieromonk of The Asketerion Monastery.
For the last two years, Myron Glova (Dormition of the Mother of God, Saskatoon), Patti Harasymchuk (St. John the Baptist, Smuts); Brenda Kelln (Ss. Peter and Paul, Saskatoon); Deborah Lendzyk-Sorestad (Dormition of the Mother of God, Saskatoon) and Carol Zubiak (Dormition of the Mother of God, Saskatoon), journeyed together learning theology, Liturgy and Scripture. They were taught by: Fr. Gregory Hrynkiw, Fr. John Sianchuk, C.Ss.R; Mr. Henry Spilchuk, Fr. Andre Lalach, and Fr. Graham Hill.
Although the group was small, it was prayerful. Every Saturday that we met at the Musee Ukraina Museum, Henry Spilchuk, lead the group in Matins. Matins isn’t the easiest prayer to get through as there is a fair amount of flipping of pages, but they persevered and eventually were singing God’s Praises with the Saints.
As a Team, Sr. Marijka Konderewicz, ssmi, Sr. Bonita Komarnicki, ssmi, Bob Friesen, and Henry Spilchuk set up the space and prepared Coffee and set out snacks. Sr. Bonita was on WebEx detail, because the Alumni tuned in to the sessions as well. We often had 35 people tune in to the session.
