IHMS Annual Fund Raising Dinner 2014

Sr. Frances wins door prize

Sr. Frances Byblow, ssmi, was the winner of this year’s featured door prize, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary School Annual Fund Raising Dinner, Saturday, March 8, 2014. She won an autographed Winnipeg Jets Jersey of Dustin Byfuglien, donated by Michael Labay, of the True North Foundation, owners of the Jets, and two tickets to a game between the Winnipeg Jets and the New York Rangers, donated by the Skromeda family, of BDR Services Ltd. of Rossdale, MB.

IHMS has held this fund raising dinner annually for several decades, at first conjointly with St. Vladimir’s College, a minor seminary run by the Redemptorist Fathers, who originated the function. Since the closure of SVC, IMHS has continued the event on its own. All proceeds help to fund the academic, spiritual and cultural programs of IHMS.

This year, special guests were the Deneka Family, three generations of whom attended Immaculate Heart. Alumnus Orest Deneka shared many fond memories of his school days, in a keynote address. About 250 people attended the fundraising dinner.

Fuller coverage of this event can be found soon at the Immaculate Heart of Mary School website. Stay tuned!
