Holy Family Home Renovated Front Entrance ~ The Official Blessing


The Holy Family Home celebrated the official opening and site blessing of its newly renovated front entrance, on January 11, 2017.

Guests were welcomed at the door with the warmth of Ukrainian Christmas Carols, sung by a small group of students from Immaculate Heart of Mary School, led by principal Rod Picklyk.

Mr. Jean Piché CEO of Holy Family, hosted as Master of Ceremonies. Commemorative addresses and words of thanks were given by Sister Christina Syrotynsky, SSMI, Provincial Superior. Mr. Peter Washchyshyn, of the Board of Directors gave highlights of the project on behalf of the Building Expansion Committee, and Mr. Terry Prychitko, Chair of the Life Love Legacy Capital Campaign, offered words of appreciation to the donors to this project, announcing what has been raised to date, and acknowledging Carpathia Credit Union for their outstanding contribution. Mr. Prychitko called upon Mr. Roman Zubach, Chair of the Board of Carpathia Credit Union, with Sr. Christina, to unveil a commemorative plaque, to recognize this.

Metropolitan Lawrence Huculak, of the Archeparchy of Winnipeg, then led the Blessing Service, from the podium, at the end of which he moved to the main entrance to bless it with Holy Water, as a chorus of men sang carols. Metropolitan Yurij Kalistchuk, of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada, was invited to bless the food, offered after the ceremony.

This is the first landmark event of the Holy Family Expansion project, initially announced in 2011. Construction is projected to be completed in 2018.
