R is 60; has recently celebrated 40 yrs. of continual sobriety in AA but he is incapacitated by severe depression; he’s prone to debilitating migraines requiring hospitalization, and also has an HIV infection. A is 57 and suffered a catastrophic stroke 2 yrs. ago; he is bedridden, can no longer speak clearly and has lost the use of his left hand and arm. His only relative is also incapacitated with lupus (B, age 22); the only people to visit him are a kind lady named J, and I.
