Sister Doloretta Shalagan, managed to mark her 60th anniversary in religious life twice during 2020. The first celebration was on August 8, 2020 at the Sisters’ home in Mundare, Alberta. For the festivities, the sisters were joined by one special guest from outside their community, Bishop David Motiuk from the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Edmonton.
The second celebration for Sister Doloretta was on November 6th when Jackie Armstrong-Homeniuk MLA for the Vegreville/Fort Saskatchewan Constituency and her assistant, Diane Lydom brought supper for the sisters. They surprised Sister Doloretta with a beautiful greeting and presented her with a scroll acknowledging her 60th anniversary.
Jackie also shared that Premier Jason Kenney expressed regrets that he could not make it at this time, but that the Sisters were are on his list for the next time that Jackie comes for a visit. In the meantime, Sister Doloretta also received a scroll from the Premier and a note stating:
“Dear Sister Doloretta, Congratulations on the wonderful occasion of your 60th anniversary in religious life! I am so sorry that I cannot be there to celebrate in person, but Jackie Armstrong-Homeniuk promised to pass on my warmest best wishes in person. Thank you for your lifetime of service to God’s people and His Church!”
May Sister Doloretta be blessed with many more years of health, happiness, and ministry service.
