Meet the Teachers

Mrs. Irene Boyko, ARCT

Irene Boyko studied with Sr. Juvenalia Kaniuk, SSMI, our founding teacher, for many years. She studied at both The Royal Conservatory of Music and the University of Western Ontario, successfully attaining her ARCT in piano. She continued her studies completing the Examiner's Course through the Royal Conservatory. Irene has organized Christmas and Spring recitals for the students of Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate School of Music since taking the position of Director of Music from Sr. Juvenalia. She has accompanied voice students at Kiwanis Festivals and for their RCM examinations. She has also organized and performed at various community events.

Sr. Christine Dudych, SSMI

Sister Christine also began her formal training with Sr. Juvenalia, for piano, voice and theory. She has also studied piano with Sr. Claire Durocher, SNDM, and Maria Case, and has studied voice with Joseph Maitre, Sandra Churchill and Norma Churchill. She presently has Grade 10 RCM standing in both disciplines. She also holds a BSc in Chemistry, and a Master of Religious Education degree.

She has sung with numerous choirs, including the Vesnivka Ukrainian Women’s Ensemble, under Kvitka Zorych-Kondracka, and the Oriana Singers, under John Ford. She was the founding director of the Holy Cross Slovak Choir, and has directed parish and youth choirs across Canada. She has composed several sacred and catechetical pieces, including songs for the religious education program for children of the Byzantine Rite, "We are Children of Light," and other transcriptions, arrangements and accompaniments for various ensembles. She is self-taught in guitar, and has taught beginner level guitar, as well as piano, voice and theory for over ten years.
