First Profession of Vows, for Two Sisters Servants in the Province of Christ the King
On June 8, 2013 in the Chapel of the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate in Winnipeg, Most Rev. Metropolitan Lawrence Huculak, OSBM, Father Provincial Larry Kondra, CSsR, and Very Rev. Mitred Michael Buyachok celebrated Solemn Divine Liturgy at 6:30 pm during which time our Community participated in the First Profession of Vows of our Novices.
Sister Patricia Lacey, Provincial Superior and Sister Theresa Matwe, Formation Directress and Counsellor, led the Novices Emily Schietzsch and Oresta Svorak to the altar. As prescribed in the rite, the Novices made three prostrations before the Blessed Sacrament and made their formal request to pronounce their vows. Metropolitan Lawrence received their request, after which they pronounced their First Profession of Vows.
After the Divine Liturgy, and our hymn “Слава, Слава” [“Glory, Glory”], we all proceeded to the dining area to enjoy a celebratory reception. Sister Patricia greeted the newly professed Sisters and thanked Metropolitan Lawrence and the concelebrants for the Liturgical celebration. On behalf of the Community, she also expressed gratitude to Sister Theresa for providing the formation process, as well as to the parents of Sr. Emily, for their support of their daughter’s vocation. Mr. and Mrs. Schietzsch were particularly moved by the entire event.
To conclude this memorable day, our newly professed Sisters also expressed their joy and gratitude to God, to Community, family, and to the clergy. They acknowledged the Sisters present and thanked the local community for the preparation and organization of today’s festivities. With hearts lifted “for the greater Glory of God!” our newly professed Sister Emily and Sister Oresta, look forward to being SSMI’s on a mission!~ submitted by Sr. Theresa Matwe, SSMI, Provincial Counsellor and Formation Directress
